- Curlers
- Pin tail comb
- Paddle brush
- Grips
- Sectioning clips
Method;
- Start off by sectioning off the fringe area, it should be about 2 curls wide. Clip this to one side for now.
- To get this look, we need to do brick work, so you need to start with a rectangular shape of hair in the middle of the head at the top. Use the curling tongs to curl the hair away from the face. Once done, grip it to place.
- The next 2 curls will be placed below the first one and will be either side to it, to make it look like brick work. Carry this on for the whole back of the head.
- With the hair in the fringe, do the same as the rest of the hair but either in a middle or side parting. Curl away from the face.
- Let cool.
- Take out all grips and brush through hair with paddle brush.
- Slightly back comb the roots of the hair to create a better uplift.
I really like how this came out because it was easy to create. It has the full 70s volume that's needed and also has a slight curl round the bottom. We then went on to do a small practise of afro hair, we didn't have time to do a full head so we only did a section.
Equipment;
- Afro comb
- Open grips
- Straighteners
- Pin tail comb
Method;
- Section the hair with the pintail comb in a zig zag line. (this is done to make the afro flow better and look more natural without any harsh lines)
- At each point of the zig zag, get the open grips, place at the root of the hair and weave the hair around the open grip until there's no hair left to weave round. Grip the bottom of the hair to the rest of the weaved hair with a grip
- Straighten over the weaved bit of hair.
- Take the hair out once it's cooled down and brush out with the afro comb
